Who is Tite Kubo?

 Background 

     Noriaki Kubo also known as Tite Kubo on June 26, 1977, in Fuchu, Hiroshima, in Japan is a renowned manga artist who is best known for creating the manga/anime series Bleach. Despite growing up in a family with no relation to arts, Kubo developed an interest in manga and drawing at a young age, influenced by the manga Saint Sieya. He decided to be a manga artist while still in high school.


 Overview 

     These are some of the famous series made by Tite Kubo:


1. Zombiepowder: An action-adventure about Gamma Akutabi searching for rings that grant eternal life. It was canceled after 27 chapters due to low popularity.


2. Bleach: Kubo's most famous work, Bleach follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a teen who gains Soul Reaper powers to protect humans from evil spirits. The series became one of Shōnen Jump’s "Big Three" and sold over 120 million copies worldwide.


3. Burn the Witch: Set in the same universe as Bleach, Burn the Witch focuses on witches Noel and Ninny, who protect people from dragons in Reverse London.

     In Bleach, one of the most fan favorite arcs is the Soul Society Arc, where Ichigo and his friends break into the Soul Society, the realm of the afterlife, to rescue Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper sentenced to death. This arc shows the intense battles, character development, and the introduction of key elements of the story, like the Soul Reapers, Zanpakutō or their sword, and how the world of the Soul Society works. 


Bleach Contribution in Shōnen Manga/Anime

     Tite Kubo's Bleach is one of Weekly Shōnen Jump’s "Big Three." Weekly Shōnen Jump is the best-selling manga magazine and also the longest-running. The "Big Three" refers to the three most popular and influential shōnen manga series of the 2000s. Along with Naruto and One Piece, Bleach inspired many series that feature sword combat, such as Sword Art Online, Demon Slayer, and Blue Exorcist.
